The 10th annual Winter Solstice Exhibit opens on Thursday, December 8th at Third Street Gallery. A coffee reception and artist talk with Bill Voxman will take place Friday, December 9th, from 9AM -10 AM. Third Street gallery is located on the second and third floor of Moscow City Hall.
The 22nd Annual Holiday Concert at the UI Kibbie Dome will be presented Friday, December 9th at 8PM. More than 500 elementary through high school students join UI Jazz Choirs and Bands, the Alpine Carillons and the Holiday String Orchestra for an evening of seasonal music. Admission is free, but cash donations and nonperishable food items are accepted at the door.
The next Winter Market will be held Saturday, December 10th at the 1912 Center from 10 AM to 2PM. Admission is free and there are free children’s activities. For more information about the Winter Market, contact the 1912 Center’s website.
The Moscow Arts Commission invites the public to attend the final artist presentations for the Wren Welcome Garden Public Art Project on Friday, December 16th, 3PM at Moscow City Hall. The Wren Welcome Garden is located at the Northwest corner of Hwy 8 and Hwy 95. The three finalits are CJ Rench from Hood River, Jennifer Corio from Vancouver, WA and Robert Horner from Port Townsend.
Tickets are on sale for the Palouse Choral Society’s winter concert at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown. Performances are Friday, December 16th at 7:30PM and Sunday, December 18th at 4 PM. Tickets are available in Lewiston at The Owl Pharmacy and Chevron Dynamarts; in Moscow at Hodgins Drug, in Pullman at Neil’s Flowers and in Uniontown at the Dahmen Barn and American West Bank.

You can support your favorite arts organizations by participating in the 2011 Alternative Giving Market of the Palouse, to be held from 4-8PM on Wednesday, December 7, at the Prichard Art Gallery, before and after the Light up the Night Holiday Parade.

Moscow Arts Commission Community Arts Update/ – From Robin Ohlgren
Moscow Arts Commission has announced a Call for Artists for the 19th Annual Winter Solstice Exhibition. Original work in all mediums is welcome. The deadline for submitting applications is November 30. Please contact the City of Moscow Arts department for details.
On Saturday, November 19th, the Palouse Folklore Society will host a Community Dance at the 1912 Center featuring the band Potatohead and caller Larry Simmons. Tickets are $4 for newcomers. Families and singles are welcome.
Lewiston’s Center for Arts and History is currently hosting two exhibits: The Confluence Project: Reimagining the Columbia River features artwork by Maya Lin; and Bookworks, an invitational book arts and letterpress show with the work of book artists from the Pacific Northwest. The Center for Arts and History is located on Main Street in downtown Lewiston. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 AM -4PM.
