Morning Mix – Nez Perce Tribe Blocks Megaload for 2 1/2 Hours

SEVEN OUT OF THE EIGHT MEMBERS OF THE NEZ PERCE TRIBAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE WERE ARRESTED EARLY THIS MORNING IN NORTHERN IDAHO AS THEY LED A HUMAN BLOCKADE AGAINST A GIANT PIECE OF OIL EXTRACTION EQUIPMENT BEING SHIPPED TO THE ALBERTA TAR SANDS. THE TRIBAL LEADERS AND ACTIVISTS STOOD AND SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR NEARLY TWO AND A HALF HOURS, SAYING THE OIL INDUSTRY AND THE IDAHO TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT ARE DEFYING A RULING BY A FEDERAL JUDGE EARLIER THIS YEAR AFFIRMING TRIBAL AND FOREST SERVICE AUTHORITY OVER MEGALOAD SHIPMENTS ON U.S. HIGHWAY 12.
